Program

Day 1. Start the tour at hrs. 10:00 approx. Visit the train cemetery of old steam locomotives that were used like transport of minerals, continue towards the town of Colchani, where the salt processing is observed in a factory artisan. Visit to the small salt pyramids and Museum where some salt sculptures are preserved. Lunch in the middle of the Salt flat. Excursion to the Incawasi Island, located in the center of Salt flat and populated by giant cacti, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the immensity of the salt. Free time to take photos with surreal effects. Continue to the town of San Juan, dinner and accommodation in basic lodging.

Day 2. After breakfast departure south to cross the desert area of Chiguana, on route to Ollague viewpoint and high altitude lagoons, home of different species of flamingos. Lunch on route. Tour through the desert of Siloli and the stone tree until arriving at the Red Lagoon that receives that name by the sediments of algae of red pigmentation. Dinner and lodging in basic Hostel.

Day 3. Early departure to the “Sol de Mañana” geysers to observe bubbling mud of different colors, intensely boiling and fumaroles Continued on the tour of the hot springs of Polques. Breakfast. You will cross the “Dali desert” through the “Green lagoon” an impressive emerald color located at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano. Lunch in route. Return to Uyuni

Day 1. Contact on Uyuni (Airport, bus station, hotel). Departure to Villamar village (10:00), visiting the trains’ cemetery where we can see the remains of 19th and 20th century steam locomotives. On the way we’ll visit the colonial church of San Cristobal (the one that has been moved from its original location). We will go through the villages of Culpina K and Alota, we will visit The Stone Valley, this is a famous rock formation due to the wind erosion, and another rock formation named Italia, we will also visit Catal and Vinto Laggons. At appropriate time we will arrive to Villamar. Visit to the cave paintings of Tomás Lakjas.

Day 2. Departure to the Red Lagoon, where we could meet the famous “JAMES’ FLAMINGOS”, unique in its species, as well as the eternal snows, also we could see the color change in the Lagoon until it reach the red color. Then we’ll go to the Sol de mañana Geysers. Continuation up north visiting the Siloli Desert, the Stone Tree and the minor lagoons: Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarckota, Honda and Ramaditas. Then road trip to Colchani. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 3. We get into the Great Salt Flat (10:00), watching in the way, the process of salt extraction. Trip until Incahuasi Island (also known as Fish Island) where we’ll be able to watch the famous Giants Cactus, then we’ll go ahead up north to the foothills of Thunupa Volcano to visit Pucara Ayque and admire the pre-colonial ruins and ancient mummies, after that we’ll go back south and watch the outstanding sunset at the edge of the Salt Flat. The lunch will be served in me middle of the Great Salt Flat. At appropriate time drop off on Uyuni (Airport, bus station, hotel). Includes: Breakfast, lunch (with beverages)

Then road trip to Chalviri Lagoon, its hot springs, and the Dali’s Valley, after that we’ll keep going ahead to the Green Lagoon where we’ll see its amazing emerald color as well as the Licancahur Volcano. Then all the way back to Villamar Village.

The contact will take place in Hito Cajón. Departure to Laguna Verde. Behind the lake rises the cone of the Licancabur Volcano, with an altitude of 5960 meters. We are going to continue to Laguna Colorada. There we shall see the famous "JAMES’ FLAMINGOS” unique in the world, the eternal snows, also, we can see the different colors of the lagoon until it gets red. The rich red coloration is derived from a type of algae and plankton. On the way, we are going to see Valle de Dalí (Dali’s Valley), this is a site of intense volcanic activity; the Chalviri thermal waters and the Geysers Sol de Mañana (Morning Sun). At appropriate time we will arrive to Villamar village.

Visit to the cave paintings and ruins near Tomas Lajas, continuation to The Stone Valley, this is a group of famous rock formations due to the wind erosion, and another rock formation named Italia, you will also visit Catal and Vinto Laggons, and the villages of Alota, Culpina K, San Cristobal Church, until Uyuni town where we’ll visit the trains’ cemetery where you can see the remains of 19th and 20th century steam locomotives then continue to the village of Colchani, and transfer to your hotel.

Day 3. At 10.00 am. We are going to visit Colchani, it is the best place to observe the methods of salt extraction, and continuation to Incahuasi Island (better known as Fish Island) this is the main destination for most salt-desert tours. Fish Island is an oasis with a unique and isolated ecosystem that is populated by giant cacti up to 10 meters high; the lunch will be served in the middle of the Salt Flat. Also we are going to visit the mummies in Pucara Ayque at the foothills of Thunupa Volcano, and after the amazing sunset on the salt flat transfer to Uyuni (airport, bus station, hotel). SERVICES DURING THE DIFFERENT SEASONS OF THE YEAR:

On Winter (From May to August) it’s possible to have snowfalls in the zone and the visits to the Green and Red lagoon also the Geysers, Hot springs nor Dalí Desert can’t be done, instead we’ll modify your itinerary in order to give you options according the possibilities.

On rainy season (From December to April) the salt flat might be flooded and the visits to Incahuasi Island, Pucara de Ayque’s Mummies or Puerto Chuvica cannot be done, instead we’ll only get about 10km into the salt flat to watch it looking as a giant mirror and the amazing beauty of the zone, giving a great opportunity to take singular photographs.
